KnightWeb's Domain Name Services (DNS)
DNS services will help customes and their end users to more easily manage their domain
names by providing a reliable, and robust domain name system with features such as:
- URL Forwarding:
The URL forwarding service allows you to direct web traffic from one
hosted domain to any other website on the Internet.
- Cloaking:
A web site is cloaked when the web address of a web site is
hidden from viewers in their browser window. For example your user would
type in www.yourname.com into their browser window. They are then automatically
redirected to your web site (http://www.someisp.com/~users/yourname/yoursite.html)
or any where you like. However your users would continue to
www.yourname.com as they browsed.
- Customizable Default Parking:
Parked domain names are domains names that are registered with the InterNIC
(and therefore reserved), but are not active for website or ecommerce service.
Parking domain names is useful if you have a domain name that you would like
to reserve, but do not intend to use immediately. One of the advantages of parking
domain names is that your domain is available when you are ready to use
it. If you have a domain that you do not intend to use for a period of time,
you may want to park it and save on monthly fees.
- MX Record Management:
An MX record controls which mail server deals with the email sent
to your domain and hostnames. With access to the MX record for your domain you
can ensure email is routed to a mail server you are running or the mail server of
another company providing this service to you.
- Email Forwarding:
The Email forwarding service allows you to direct mail sent to
addresses at a hosted domain name to email addresses anywhere else on
the Internet. For example, you can forward mail to a Hotmail or
Yahoo account, the email account at your ISP, or any other email account you choose.
